Curtin Library Artwork - Expression of Interest (EOI)

Curtin University Library is looking for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artist to create an original artwork that celebrates and acknowledges Indigenous connection to Country, and signals to Indigenous students, staff and visitors that the Library is their space.
As part of Curtin Library's commitment to elevating First Nations culture and creativity, this project aims to commission an Indigenous artwork that will be used across a range of Library spaces, communications and materials.
The project
The selected artist will work with Curtin Library and Nani Creative to develop an original artwork. The project will begin with a creative workshop to share more about the Library, the project and possible themes that could help inspire the artwork.
Who can apply
This opportunity is open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artists living and working in Australia.
Artists at all stages of their careers are welcome to apply.
Artists with a connection to Noongar land, Curtin University, Bentley or the wider Curtin community are encouraged to apply, but this is not required.
The selected artist will provide:
One original artwork
A written artist story explaining the story
A current artist biography.
Artist Engagement
The selected artist will also take part in:
One online or in-person creative workshop with Curtin Library and Nani Creative
One online or in-person meeting to present the completed artwork and share the story behind it
Artist fee
The artist fee is $2,000 + GST, if applicable.
This covers the artwork, written story, artist biography and attendance at the workshop and presentation meeting.
Timing
The EOI will be open for approximately three weeks.The artwork process is expected to take around four to six weeks, with timing to be agreed with the selected artist.
